A good friend gave us Sheryl’s contact information for ISR lessons. She came with high recommendations. I didn’t know much about ISR but knew my son needed it. He loved the water but had a fear of getting all the way in the water. He refused to wear a life jacket. So, we knew we needed to do something quickly since we have a pool.
We went to our first lesson. Liam cried the whole time. Which I noticed was normal but I was surprised by his reaction. Sheryl handled it with such grace and reassured me he was just fine and it was normal. For the next couple of weeks I watched from a distance. He slowly came to love the water so much. He couldn’t wait to get to swim class to see Ms. Sheryl. Ms. Sheryl was someone we talked about daily in our household. He asked to go to swim lessons. He refused to get out of the water.
Liam took a little more time with learning the ISR skills. He is a very type A personality. Sheryl was so patient with him. He tried to negotiate with her a lot. He always needed to know an exact number for what swim, or move he was going to be doing. Sheryl made sure that he was completely comfortable in the water and met all the proper requirements. We greatly appreciated that so much!
Liam began floating and swimming on his own. Liam was so excited. Sheryl, was just as happy for him. It was truly such a sweet moment between them. Sheryl truly taught our son a lifelong skill that we will continue to refresh up on yearly with ISR. ISR is life changing. We have confidence in our son’s ability in the water but none of that couldn’t have been done without Sheryl. Her patience, and kindness never went unnoticed. When, you see someone 5 days a week they truly become such a big part of your life. We are happy to have Sheryl a part of ours.
